St. Thomas uses the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd method of faith formation for children's Sunday school. This Montessori-based approach allows children to explore scripture and liturgy with hands-on materials.
Sunday school for children meets during the school year at 9:15am. Ages 3-6 meet in the level 1 atrium downstairs. Children in 1st - 4th grade meet in the level 2 atrium downstairs.
St. Thomas welcomes children of all ages in the service but realizes that some families prefer to worship without the distraction of caring for their young children. Our nursery serves children from infancy through age 4 in a safe, fun, caring environment. The nursery typically uses paid staff with the help of volunteers as needed.
The nursery is located by the bottom of the staircase.
Children in 1st grade through 12th are invited to join the Youth & Junior Choir. The group practices weekly during the school year and performs at the 10:30am service about once per month and on Christmas Eve. The choir is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music, whereby members receive medals for their achievement in acquiring musical, liturgical and membership skills. St. Thomas also offers a Tone Chimes group for children in 2nd grade and above. The tone chimes group practices weekly to prepare anthems for special services.
