St. Thomas has an active EYC that focuses on fellowship and Christian formation. Youth in 7th through 12th grade typically meet Sunday evenings at the church for dinner, program, worship and fellowship.
To foster an even greater sense of belonging, the St. Thomas EYC partners with other local EYC groups for events like skating parties and bowling.
St. Thomas also encourages participation in Diocesan Youth events, such as Happening retreats and Camp McDowell.
Days and times of meetings vary so please check the calendar.
At St. Thomas, our youth have time with their peers at EYC and time learning with adult parishioners during Sunday school. This allows the youth and aduts to learn together, share experiences, and participate in the larger community. The Sunday school program is typically led by clergy and takes place in the parish hall at 9:15am.
We see our youth as vital members of the whole parish and encourage participation in all aspects of the church. Youth take leadership roles in parish-wide events such as the Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper and Easter Egg hunt.Youth are encouraged to serve during worship (acolytes, readers, ushers, or other roles), participate in service opportunities, and develop relationships with others in the parish.
Youth up to 12th grade are invited to join the Youth & Junior Choir. The group practices weekly during the school year and performs at the 10:30am service about once per month and on Christmas Eve. The choir is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music, whereby members receive medals for their achievement in acquiring musical, liturgical and membership skills. St. Thomas also offers a Tone Chimes group for children and youth. The tone chimes group practices weekly to prepare anthems for special services.
